October means fall, pumpkin spiced lattes, copper stained leaves and our favourite holiday – Halloween!
We have listed our favourite Halloween hairstyles to inspire your costume for this year.

Halloween Hairstyles: Ballerina

Comb the hair back into a tight low ponytail. Twist the hair around the base of the ponytail to create a bun and secure with pins.
To update this look, take a section of the ponytail and braid it. Pull the braid to the side while you twist the hair to create your bun. Once your bun is secure, twist the braid around the bun and secure with pins.

Halloween Hairstyles: Edward Scissorhands

A look for both men and women, Edwards Scissorhands hair involves a lot of backcombing and hair spray.
Section the hair and backcomb the sections from root to tip. Secure the look with Redken Quick Dry 18 hair spray to create this look. The messier the better!

Halloween Hairstyles: Medusa

This is a very popular Halloween look and it isn’t as difficult as it looks to create this Halloween Hairstyle.
Separate your hair from your crown up and secure with a pin.
1 and 2. Section and braid the hair above/behind each ear and secure with a small clear band. Braid these straight down.
3. Braid the bottom half of the hair into a Dutch, French or a normal braid. Remember to braid all this hair and braid it to the right across the head.
4. Lastly, braid the top section of the hair straight down.
Pull the braids apart so you have more hair to create your Medusa braids.
Wrap braid 1 from the left to right-hand side of your head and secure with a pin.
Pull up braid 3 and wrap it behind the first braid.
Pull braid 2 across the back of your head and pin it on the other side.
Finally, wrap the final braid into a donut shape at the top of your head.
Add plastic snakes through the braids and secure them with pins.
You can then further secure your braids with more pins once your snakes are secured.

Halloween Hairstyles: Vampire

The perfect Halloween Hairstyle for guys with short hair is the greasy, slicked back vampire look.
Rub Redken Velvet Gelatine 07 on your hands and comb through the hair. Comb the hair back and add more gel so that your spooky look stays firmly fixed.

Halloween Hairstyles: Princess Leia

This is the perfect Halloween Hairstyle for those with long hair.
Part your hair down the middle from your forehead to the nape of your neck using a fine-toothed comb. Take each side of the hair and secure into a ponytail about 1 cm above your ear on each side of your head.
Twist each ponytail then wrap it around itself at the base of the pigtail to form a bun and secure with pins. Remember the bun needs to look like a cinnamon bun.
Secure each bun with hair spray so you are rocking this look well into the evening!

Halloween Hairstyles: Greek Goddess

This is a perfect look for those with curly hair.
Comb the back section of your hair into a ponytail, leaving the front of your hair (around your hair line) loose.
Twist and secure the ponytail upwards with bobby pins, while pulling the front pieces back and securing them towards the twist.
Complete this look by adding a hair pin or ribbon.

Halloween Hairstyles: Zombie

The more unruly and messy the hair the better you can pull off this Halloween Hairstyle.
Curl your hair in different sections, in different directions and in different sizes to create random curls.
Grab the hair spray and scrunch up the hair in different areas using your hands to create messy volume.
Backcomb the hair in areas using your fingers. This will create a messy, birds nest, wavy look to accompany your ghoulish zombie make-up.

Halloween Hairstyles: Audrey Hepburn

For this classic French twist, start by spraying your hair with a volumiser. We suggest Redken Volume Guts 10.
Separate the hair from top to bottom, from one side of the ear to the other.
Gather the top section at the crown, tease and twist the hair and secure with a pin.
Gather the bottom section of the hair at the nape of the neck and start twisting it up with one hand. As you twist the hair, use the other hand to wrap the hair into the twist. Secure the end of the twist under the teased crown and use pins to secure the twist.
Finish with hair spray.
